About Smyrna

Smyrna is located about 10 miles northwest of Atlanta. It is just a 15-minute drive from downtown Atlanta, yet free of the congestion. The revitalized and active new downtown area "The Village Green" includes a new library, community center, retail development, city hall, arboretum and pond, wonderful restaurants, and new homes. The new Market Village, home to fabulous restaurants, bars and upscale shops and services, is the final piece of a master plan for success. It features features 16 town homes, 40,000 sq ft of retail space and another 18,000 sq ft of office space. Smyrna parks & recreation provides playgrounds, jogging trails, pools, lighted tennis courts, public golf courses, athletic fields & sports centers for outdoor entertainment. There are also day camps, sports and recreational activities for children to seniors. Summer concerts and family events are fun activities on the Village Green.

Vinings is another great place to enjoy that is in Smyrna, located just inside 285. Vinings Jubilee or Vinings Village is a central area of Vinings where you can find tons of great restaurants and shops.

Smyrna area public schools are managed by the Cobb County School District (with the exception of Imagine International Academy of Smyrna which is a charter school). The schools fall mostly into the Campbell High School cluster of Cobb County Schools.

Thanks to the citizens' overwhelming support for the 2005 Parks Bond, the City was able to develop several new parks and improve many others. These parks include multiple play areas, ball fields, trails, and even 2 dog parks for tons of outdoor fun. The Smyrna park system even has several recreation facilities, many of these which can be rented for private events. Smyrna is also the winner of the Urban Land Institute’s Award of Excellence for the Village Green revitalization project. As a recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association’s "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award," the City of Smyrna continues to serve its citizens well, with integrity and earned progress.
